Overview:

The 16U level is designed for players who are looking to take their game to the next stage—whether that’s high school varsity, travel hockey, or long-term competitive development. Athletes at this age are expected to bring discipline, drive, and maturity to the rink.

PJHA’s 16U program focuses on advanced systems, pace, and performance, offering players the tools they need to compete at a high level and continue progressing in their hockey careers.

Core Focus Areas:

  • High-speed, structured practices with position-specific instruction
  • System play: breakouts, special teams, and game situational awareness
  • Physical and mental conditioning to support endurance and confidence
  • Leadership and accountability as players prepare for larger team roles
  • Advanced skill refinement: passing under pressure, puck protection, shooting precision

2025-26 16U: Midgets Coaching Staff

Coach Jeff Cary leads PJHA’s 16U program with a clear focus on preparation, structure, and player accountability. With years of experience both playing and coaching, Coach Cary brings a commanding presence and high expectations to every practice and game. His mission is simple: to help players compete at their highest level—on and off the ice.

At 16U, the game moves faster, and so do the demands. Coach Cary focuses on position-specific detail, strong systems play, and mental toughness—preparing athletes to take the next step toward high school, prep, or travel hockey.

“We’re not just building better hockey players. We’re building focused, respectful athletes who know what it takes to earn their ice time and lead their team.”

Coach Cary’s practices are fast-paced and efficient. He values hard work, attitude, and coachability—traits that help players stand out as they pursue more competitive levels of hockey.

He is USA Hockey certified and well-regarded across the North Country for developing players who are not only technically sound but mentally prepared for what comes next.
